This is an appealing painted bookcase handcrafted from solid cherry at the beginning of the reign of Louis XV by the first quarter of the 18th century. It is topped by a flat molded cornice, which sits upon an upper frieze centering a medallion with flower head above the pair of paneled doors mounted with chicken wire and separated by a nicely embellished central panel, revealing an efficient storage compartment with 3 non-adjustable shelves. Note that the shelves, the locks and the key are not original and have been replaced at some point. This piece is in overall good condition and for sale as is. Circa date 1720.
