This is a handsome pair of armchairs made from solid and nicely patinaed walnut during the second half of the 19th century by the end of the reign of Napoleon III. Each featuring an arched seat back centering shell and foliate patterns standing upon the large seat flanked by lovely scrolled armrests adorned with acanthus leaves, all supported by a beautiful pediment consisting of embellished cabriole legs connected to each other thanks to a graceful X-shaped stretcher. Please note that the upholstery has to be replaced. This pair is in overall good condition and for sale as is. Circa date 1870. Dimensions 40”high/ 16 ½”seat height/ 26 ¾”wide/ 22 ¾”deep.
